Cómo Averiguar La Edad de mi Perro


Averiguar la edad de nuestro perro se ha convertido en una curiosidad más que una necesidad. Pero no debemos olvidar que es fundamental este conocimiento para poder atender las necesidades de nuestro perro en cada etapa de su vida.

Muchas personas creen que multiplicando por 7 cada año del perro se puede calcular aproximadamente su edad. Pero no es correcto ya que su desarrollo fisiológico no sigue la misma proporción que la nuestra. Teniendo un cálculo 

exacto debemos atender a su tamaño ya que no todas las razas viven lo mismo. Las más grandes pueden llegar a vivir una media de 12 años, considerándolos ya de la tercera edad cuando alcanzan los 8 ó 9 años, frente a los 16 que puede vivir una raza pequeña. Esto depende de la calidad de vida que tenga el perro, una buna alimentación, la higiene…..
Hasta que tienen un año no alcanzan la estatura definitiva, aunque se seguirán desarrollando hasta los 2 ó 3 años dependiendo de la raza.
Como te decíamos, a partir de los 8 años comienza la vejez en los perros. Su salud dependerá de la buena calidad de vida que tuvo hasta ahora y de la que le demos a partir de este momento. Debemos estar atentos ante cualquier posible cambio, ya que estará menos activo y su agilidad también irá disminuyendo. Pueden sufrir problemas estomacales, artritis, sobre todo en perros grandes.

Recuerda lo importante que es llevarlo con regularidad al veterinario.
